The Engelbert Survival for the Entrepreneur series was in part inspired the by song The Deck of Cards by Tex Ritter, released in 1948 about a soldier on charges for playing cards in Church. Demonstrating that ideas and inspiration can come from unlikely sources.
The King of Romance being no exception, a career spanning 5 decades. He took risks, inspired others, worked hard, still recording and is performing today.
One of the best examples of a creative entrepreneur I can think of.
I remember "The deck of cards" being played on my parents 78 rpm gramophone, no power or batteries required just wind it up first! The first references of the soldier`s story are from Mary Bacon 1762, a farmers wife in Hampshire. The folk story was later printed as "The soldiers Almanack, Bible and Prayer Book"
