Out of all NZ creative sectors The Film Industry is the most lucrative and the biggest employer of the creative sectors. As separate industries fashion, art, craft, music, design etc pale in comparison.
Bring incentives, change laws do whatever it takes to match the offers made by England, Australia and South Africa. If nothing is done and we lose productions, the NZ film industry will go back to at least 30 years when no one made any money and the quality was a bit of a joke.
Politicians respond to the public and a few individuals got enough media coverage to paint tax incentives as a dirty word. Time to start lobbying Politicians, Industry Associations and the Tourism Board till they get the idea how important this is and the wider ramifications it will have, including some of the tertiary education sector.

If this was was any other Industry would there be the same dismissive response.
Like it or not the creative Industries are the only sector which can expand the NZ economy simply because Farms can`t grow any bigger , there is a limit to how many want to visit and we can`t dig any deeper holes............. for minerals.
